LSU alum Angel Reese is already causing ripples in the WNBA, despite not yet gracing the court for the Chicago Sky. Since her draft earlier this month, Reese’s entry into the WNBA has sparked significant discussion, buoyed by her NCAA title during the 2022-23 season. With her collegiate achievements, NCAA fans are eagerly awaiting Reese’s transition into the WNBA.

When jerseys became available for purchase on WNBA.com, Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky jersey flew off the virtual shelves, with fans seizing the opportunity to rally behind the rookie. As the WNBA preseason approaches on May 3, anticipation is mounting not only in Chicago but across the league.

During a media briefing ahead of the commencement of training camp on April 28, Reese shared her reaction to the news of her jersey selling out. She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, acknowledging that witnessing her impact firsthand is a dream fulfilled. Nonetheless, Reese humbly noted that she has yet to secure a spot on the Sky’s official roster.

“It’s crazy being able to see the impact. As a little girl, I always looked up to so many great players in the WNBA, and now being able to see my name on the back of a jersey is amazing. And I haven’t even made the team yet, obviously.

“But being able to just be in this moment and understanding what it means to be here because everybody doesn’t get this opportunity. And like I said, I’m not going to take this for granted.”

While Warren Buffett is still a titan among all the gods in the selling field, Reese has obviously sold a large number of jerseys at such a young age. We could say, for fun, that she has surpassed him to keep her motivation to shine even more and sell more jerseys.

Chicago Sky's Angel Reese Officially Introduced, And She's "Ready"

With the preseason just around the corner, WNBA rosters across the league are poised to solidify. Preseason action is set to kick off on May 3 and extend through May 12, culminating in final roster cuts on May 13.

Given the WNBA’s limited 12-team structure, roster spots are highly coveted, leaving many rookies from this year’s draft vying for positions that are ultimately scarce.

However, Angel Reese’s position on the Chicago Sky roster appears promising. Backed by her burgeoning star power and the Sky’s strategic roster adjustments, including two first-round draft picks, Reese’s spot seems secure. It’s anticipated that not only will Reese be signed, but also the No. 3 pick, Kamilla Cardoso from South Carolina.

The team is scheduled to take the court for their first preseason matchup on May 4 against the Minnesota Lynx, followed by a game against the New York Liberty on May 7.

Following final roster selections, the Chicago Sky will embark on their regular season journey, commencing with an away game against the Dallas Wings on May 15.
