During the game, reporter Holly Rowe shared a comment Clark made about one of her Team WNBA teammates that may shock diehard fans of the sport.

At a time when players like A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, Angel Reese and Breanna Stewart have been heaped with praise with each passing week, Caitlin decided to buck the trend as she made a genius pick for “Best 1-On-1 Player” in the WNBA.

Clark chose her ASG teammate, a 5-foot-8 guard out of Notre Dame, who still is far from a household name — although she might become one after Saturday night’s performance.

“Caitlin Clark just called you the best one-on-one player in the league and she’s determined to get you the ball more in the fourth quarter,” sideline reporter Holly Rowe said to Arike Ogunbowale during her historic 34-point, six assist All-Star Game MVP performance at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Ogunbowale broke out with a huge smile across her face as she learned of Clark’s compliment, before making Clark look like a genius with her game-best performance, beating out Stewart, Angel Reese and others for MVP honors.

The Dallas Wings guard told Rowe that the respect was mutual as she eagerly awaited her return to game action.
