The 10-time NBA All-Star Stephen Curry has been one of the best players, as well as leaders of all time, as he has led the Golden State Warriors into the NBA finals 6 times in the last decade, and have won 4 of them.
Many NBA legends have credited Stephen Curry’s leadership for the unreal consistency of the Warriors. However, recently the 4-time NBA Champion was criticized for his leadership due to his teammate, Draymond Green’s unavailability.
Stephen Curry addresses Draymond Green’s Warriors return
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Charlotte Hornets 115-97 in a game on Friday. Stephen Curry led the victory with 23 points and Draymond Green scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Green was recently ejected early in the Warriors’ game against the Orlando Magic. Curry was clearly frustrated after Green was ejected, as he understands how important Green is to the Warriors.
Curry spoke about Green, and said, “We need him. I said it last game. For us to try to finish the season strong and give ourselves the best shot not only in the standings, but with the way that we’re playing and the energy that’s building up towards hopefully being in the play-in. We just want an opportunity and he’s a huge part of that. Need him on the floor.”
Green acknowledged Curry and company and said, “I feel like since I’ve returned, everything is heading in the right direction, we hit a little bump in the road and keep going. I’m extremely grateful that my guys held me down. It was a very important game for us.” However, some NBA analysts continue to blame Curry for Green’s situation.
NBA insiders blame Steph Curry’s leadership for Green’s actions
Former NBA Legend Jay Williams said that many high level NBA people are questioning Steph Curry’s leadership. Williams said, “Draymond Green is diminishing the ultimate legacy of how people are looking at the leadership of Stephen Curry. That’s what’s happening right now.”
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who recently defended Stephen Curry’s leadership, fired back at the critics once again, and said, “He [Draymond] is a grown man. He’s got to handle his own business. Any any mention of Steph being culpable is just ridiculous. The way Steph has carried our franchise represented our franchise for 15 years.”
The Warriors are currently struggling to make it into the playoffs, as only 9 games are left for the Dubs to make an impact in the Western Conference. Warriors have a crucial matchup on Sunday, where they will face the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center.
