Twitter After being taken with the No. 1 overall pick, Caitlin Clark told ESPN’s Holly Rowe that her goal is to have fun and be herself in the WNBA.
Rowe couldn’t hide her surprise that Clark neglected to target winning games with the Indiana Fever.
Caitlin Clark had a very big WNBA draft night on April 15.
Not only was the Iowa basketball player the No. 1 overall pick — going to the Indiana Fever — but she was dressed head-to-toe in Prada.
Of course she had to be stylish for her big moment! And her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, was more than pleased with her outfit, too.
After Clark stepped out in her designer duds — a double white satin shirt and skirt with an embroidered rhinestone mesh top — a fan on X (formerly known as Twitter), asked McCaffery for his opinion on his girlfriend’s look.
He actually was too stunned to speak and responded with only emojis, including an “astonished face” and “drooling face.”
Clark, 22, responded to McCaffrey, an Iowa alum, with an emoji of her own: the watery eyes in thank-you because it’s all just so sweet!
She also shared a few photobooth snapshots of the two of them on her Instagram Stories after the draft festivities, calling him her “fav person in the world.”

“This is a dream, this is something I wrote down on a piece of paper when I was in, like, second grade. Get a basketball scholarship.
Play in the WNBA. This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Clark, who has shattered records during her tenure at Iowa, said while doing interviews with the Associated Press and Today ahead of the draft.
After her name was called (first of the night!), Clark took the stage and was given her Indiana jersey with a #1, as seen in a video shared on the WNBA’s X account.
The Fever shared a video on Instagram not long after, welcoming Clark to the team — and “Basketball Country.”
