As the Duchess of Sussex reportedly gets set to launch a rose wine commentators weighed in on her plans.
Talk TV panel discuss rumours of Meghan releasing new wine
Meghan Markle’s plan to launch rose wine as been mocked and dubbed a money making exercise by TV panellists.
The Duchess of Sussex is getting set to announce the product under her luxury brand American Riviera Orchard, according to a source.
Meghan is said to be a massive fan of wine and reportedly named her lifestyle blog The Tig after Tignanello, the Italian Super Tuscan red wine.
But the move has been laughed about on Talk TV as Andrew Walker and guests – including barrister Steven Barrett, political strategist Peter Barnes and Tom Harris from the Free Speech Union – discussed the week’s news stories.
Peter Barnes said: “The main one used to be Whispering Angel – this one is just moaning Meghan.”
It’s reported that Meghan is launching a rose wine
He went on to say that Meghan was “running out of things to launch”. But added: “This one wouldn’t surprise because let’s be honest, there is significantly more money to be made in wine than there is in jam.”
If she decides to sell wine with her new brand, Meghan would be joining other celebrities who have their own wine ranges including Cameron Diaz, George Clooney, Kylie Minogue, Francis Ford Coppola and Brad Pitt.
The most famous celebrity wine, Armand de Brignac Champagne, was owned by rapper Jay-Z until he sold a 50 per cent stake to LVMH’s wines and spirits division Moet Hennessy for a reported £300million.
It comes after the Duchess previously teased her new jam line by gifting 50 jars of raspberry and strawberry jams to friends and influencers across the US.
As well as jams, Meghan, 42, has also promoted dog biscuits under her American Riviera Orchard label.
