The 2024 WNBA Draft is set to feature Stanford forward Cameron Brink among its standout prospects, alongside notable names like Iowa guard Caitlin Clark and South Carolina center Kamilla Cardoso.
Various WNBA mock drafts, including ESPN’s projections, place Brink as the Los Angeles Sparks’ likely second overall pick, just behind Clark. Brink’s exceptional performance this past season, winning both Pac-12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, has cemented her status as an elite prospect.
During a virtual press conference, former WNBA player and ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo, along with analyst Andraya Carter, shared their insights on this year’s draft prospects. While acknowledging Clark’s promise, they emphasized the overall depth of talent in the draft class, with Brink standing out as a notable prospect.
Despite Brink’s impressive college career and popularity, some anticipate Cardoso being drafted ahead of her, especially after her standout performance as the Final Four Most Outstanding Player leading South Carolina to a national title. However, Lobo expressed confidence in Brink being chosen as the second overall pick.
“We have women entering the draft this year who are generating a lot of excitement, and people are eager to see how their game translates at the professional level,” Carter commented.
Carter also highlighted the significant off-court influence many college basketball stars will bring to the WNBA.
Regardless of whether she’s selected second or third overall, Brink’s remarkable career at Stanford positions her for success at the professional level.
The WNBA draft is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on April 15th.
