Reports indicate that Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever jersey is selling at a much faster pace than that of one of the world’s most popular and heavily marketed sports teams.

The 2024 WNBA Draft took place on Monday in Brooklyn, New York. As expected, the Fever selected Iowa star Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick, who is the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division 1 history.

According to Dick Weiss of the New York Daily News, Clark’s Indiana Fever jersey outsold the total number of Dallas Cowboys jerseys sold last year in just one day.

Indeed, the impact of Caitlin Clark on the WNBA is immense. The fact that her jersey outsold those of perhaps the most popular sports team in America in just one day is truly remarkable.

Additionally, the WNBA announced earlier this month that 36 of Indiana’s 40 games will be nationally broadcast.

It’s worth noting that Dallas star linebacker Micah Parsons and quarterback Dak Prescott ranked first and fifth in top-selling jerseys at the Lids company for 2023, respectively.

The Fever were consistently successful from 2005 to 2016, making the postseason every year during that period, including three WNBA Finals appearances and a championship win in the 2012 season.

However, Indiana has not made the postseason since 2016, and their last playoff series win was in 2015. Since 2017, the organization has not surpassed 13 wins in a single season (achieving that mark only in 2019 and 2023).

But with Caitlin Clark joining the organization, things are about to change. She is a once-in-a-generation talent who can dominate games on her own while also elevating her teammates.

The Clark era will kick off on May 14, as the Fever start their season on the road against the Connecticut Sun. Two days later, Indiana will host the New York Liberty in their home opener.
