Fans of all ages gathered in droves, with many pitching tents and camping out around the Olympiastadion in hopes of catching a glimpse of the megastar. Swifties were seen tailgating and camping out on the rolling hills behind the stadium, with brightly colored tents dotting the landscape, turning the concert into a citywide event.
Swift, 34, was visibly moved by the overwhelming turnout, both inside and outside the venue. In a heartfelt moment during her performance, she addressed the thousands of fans listening from outside the stadium. “We’ve got people in a park outside the stadium, thousands of people listening from out there!” Swift exclaimed to the cheering crowd. “I just feel so incredibly welcomed, and we’re gonna spend all night trying to make it up to you.”
The concert was filled with memorable moments, including Swift’s surprise guitar performance of “Fresh Out the Slammer,” a tradition of the Eras Tour where she plays unexpected songs for her fans. This particular rendition was seamlessly blended with her 1989 hit “You Are in Love,” thrilling the audience. Swift also performed “Ivy” from her album Evermore and “Call It What You Want” from Reputation, despite a brief mishap with the opening notes, which she gracefully laughed off and restarted.
The Munich shows followed two concerts in Hamburg earlier that week, where Swift braved rainy weather and humorously referred to herself as “Fuzzy Hair Me” on Instagram. “Hamburg!! I loved those crowds so so so much,” Swift shared with her followers, expressing her appreciation for the enthusiastic German fans.
Swift’s Munich performances were a highlight of her Germany leg of the tour, which began with a three-night stint in Gelsenkirchen. The shows were so popular that the town temporarily renamed itself “Swiftkirchen” in her honor, thanks to a petition by local fans.
As the European leg of her record-breaking tour continues, Swift is set to perform two shows in Warsaw, Poland, in early August, before concluding with five nights in London. With each performance, Taylor Swift continues to captivate audiences and create unforgettable experiences for her fans worldwide, solidifying her status as one of the most beloved and influential artists of our time.
