Jeanie Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, has refuted recent claims by former NBA star Dennis Rodman that they briefly dated during his time with the team. Instead, Buss clarified that her role involved overseeing Rodman’s activities.

Speaking on “In Depth with Graham Bensinger,” Buss addressed the speculation surrounding her alleged relationship with Rodman, which he had discussed in an interview with VLADTV while reflecting on his interactions with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

“I did not date Dennis Rodman,” clarified Buss, who assumed control of the Lakers following her father Jerry Buss’ passing in 2013.

Buss elaborated that when Rodman joined the team briefly in 1999, playing only 23 games, her responsibilities included monitoring his whereabouts.

“So, in essence, if it’s about, ‘Where will you be tonight? Alright, we’re all going to this restaurant, or we’re going to this club, or this beach, wherever Dennis plans to be.’ You could call it dating in the sense that it meant keeping an eye on him,” Buss explained.

Rodman had asserted in his interview that he dated Buss for six months, which he claimed strained his relationships with Lakers stars Bryant and O’Neal, as attention shifted towards him during his stint with the team.
