Taylor Swift’s boyfriend – Travis Kelce caused a chaotic scene with this fan on a golf course. “When I put my hand to the back of my head there was a lot of blood,” Katie Hauss tells interviewer about the incident.

Katie Hauss was enjoying a day watching her favorite celebrities, including Travis Kelce, play golf at the American Century Championship with her husband Ryan Griffiths on Friday, July 12th. Suddenly, she felt something hit the back of her head.

“When I was struck, I immediately felt pain,” Hauss, 37, told interviewer. “I focused on not losing consciousness, unsure of what had happened. People started yelling that it was Travis Kelce’s golf shot and that a girl had been hit.”

“I tried to stay calm, telling my husband I thought I was okay but it hurt badly,” she continued. “When I touched my head, there was a lot of blood. I knelt down to collect myself when a Good Samaritan, possibly a doctor or first responder, rushed over and applied pressure to my head wound. He instructed me to stay still as they called for EMTs. I’m incredibly grateful to that man for helping me, a stranger, and I wish I could thank him for his kindness.”

Hauss had indeed been struck in the head by a golf ball hit by Travis Kelce, the 34-year-old tight-end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Travis and his brother Jason were among the golfers Hauss and Griffiths had traveled to see at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

“I attend the tournament every year. Celebrity golf is a highlight we eagerly anticipate, making it one of our favorite weeks annually,” Hauss commented on the event.

Upon realizing what had occurred, both Kelces approached her on the green.

“Travis must have come down while I was still on the ground,” Hauss remembered. “I saw him approaching, though I don’t recall exactly what he said. He asked if I was alright, and I could sense he was genuinely remorseful. He quipped that the least he could do was take a photo with me, so I got up and joked that at least the front of me looked fine and wasn’t bleeding for the photo. Travis mentioned he couldn’t bring himself to smile given the situation. I honestly felt sorry for him because I know it was a complete accident, and it must have been tough to experience with such a large crowd watching.”

Hauss also remembered Jason showing genuine concern, repeatedly asking if she was okay.

EMTs quickly arrived and discovered her head was split upon. They suggested Hauss go to the hospital to make sure that she didn’t have a fracture or internal bleeding. When she got to the ER, they confirmed she had a concussion and needed a few stitches in my head.

Hauss also remembers holding onto the cup in her hand, which only contained water, and getting it continually refilled to wash the blood off her arms and legs.

More than a week after her injury, Hauss, a horseback rider, is slowly recovering.

“This week was a bit touch and go, but as of today I’m feeling much better and on the mend!” Hauss told interviewer one week after the incident. “I ride horses professionally for work so putting a helmet on earlier this week was a bit difficult but I managed. The doctor had wanted to originally give me staples but I negotiated for some dissolving stitches and glue given the nature of my work.”

She also commented on the New Heights podcast the brothers made before the tournament, where Travis joked: “Don’t feel bad if you hit somebody because they bought the ticket.”

“I’m sure they never imagined that someone would actually get hurt when they said those things,” Hauss reflected. “I still can’t believe it happened to be honest!”
