On Wednesday, the WNBA announced Cheryl Miller as head coach of the 2024 WNBA All-Star team.

The women’s basketball icon will lead a star-studded roster into a matchup against Team USA later this month.

“It’s Cheryl v Cheryl,” the WNBA announced on X. “Basketball legend and FIRST Head Coach of the Mercury Cheryl Miller is set to lead the WNBA All-Stars as they take on the USA Women’s National Team in Phoenix! She will be joined by former Mercury star Adrian Williams on her coaching squad.

“Head Coach Cheryl Reeve will lead the USA Women’s National Team! She will be joined by Kara Lawson, Joni Taylor, and Mike Thibault.”

This year’s All-Star roster includes several exciting names — including Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

Many of Clark’s fans are thrilled to see her operate under the coaching guidance of Miller. In fact, some are painting this as a pseudo job interview for the former Mercury head coach.

Current Indiana head coach Christie Sides is trending after this announcement.

“@ChristieSides Big Cheryl got us from here on out, enjoy your last game tonight,” one fan wrote.

“Her job interview for the Fever Head Coach position is a live Allstar game, how iconic. Christie Sides last time coaching Caitlin will be tonight, I might throw something on the grill,” another said.

“Caitlin playing under a coach that isn’t christie sides with angel reese on her team…” another added.

“Caitlin aliyah & kelsey going back to christie sides after spending the weekend with cheryl miller,” another wrote.

Sides will lead the Fever into their final game before the WNBA’s month-long midseason break on Wednesday night.

Miller, Clark and the 2024 WNBA All-Star team will face off against Team USA on July 20.
