LSU head coach Kim Mulkey praised her soon-to-be former star Angel Reese in an Instagram post following the forward’s announcement that she would be going pro.
Reese made the highly anticipated announcement in an interview with Vogue.com on Wednesday, ending the uncertainty around her future at LSU.
Mulkey posted a collage of photos of herself with Reese along with a caption praising a number of her accomplishments.
“National Champion,” Mulkey wrote along with a green check emoji.
“Soon-to-be graduate of @LSU,” she also wrote. “Inspired countless individuals, young & old.”
Mulkey ended the post: “Keep growing the game @angelreese10.”
The LSU coach shared a post from the LSU women’s basketball Instagram account, thanking Reese for her time with the program.
Mulkey also reposted an LSU highlight reel from Reese.
She is now part of one of the most exciting WNBA draft classes in recent memory, with two of the biggest stars — Reese and Caitlin Clark — in women’s college hoops set to go pro.
Mulkey shared an emotional post on Instagram following Reese’s announcement.
“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” Reese told Vogue in the published interview that was conducted in mid-March.
“I’ve won a national championship, I’ve gotten [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year [in the 2023-24 season], I’ve been an All-American.
“My ultimate goal is to be a pro — and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I’m ready.”

The news came out 48 hours after LSU had been eliminated by Clark and Iowa on Monday night at MVP Arena in Albany in the Elite Eight — a game that set a ratings record for women’s college sports.
Reese helped LSU win a national championship in 2023, and this past season, she averaged 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.
She also had recorded a double-double in 27 of the 33 games that she played in during her final season at LSU.
