As per a TikTok livestream by current Hawkeye forward AJ Ediger, Molly Davis, former guard for Iowa women’s basketball, underwent knee surgery on Thursday morning.

Residing together in Iowa City, Ediger mentioned during the livestream that Davis is recuperating from the surgery. Although Davis was present in the room with Ediger, she remained off-camera. Ediger conveyed that Davis is immobilized, sporting a brace from her hip down to her ankle on her right leg.

“AJ had to carry me up the stairs,” Davis added.

Davis, renowned among fans for her “heart, hustle, and headband,” sustained a knee injury during the last regular-season match against Ohio State. She appeared to be in immediate agony and required assistance to leave the court.

Initially, head coach Lisa Bluder anticipated Davis would make a comeback at some point during the postseason. However, the fifth-year guard never reached a level of fitness where the coaching staff felt confident in fielding her.

Nevertheless, one of the most poignant moments of this memorable season occurred with only 20 seconds remaining in the national championship game against South Carolina. Davis made her final appearance as a Hawkeye and received a standing ovation from the supportive Iowa crowd.

When Davis was introduced during the end-of-season celebration at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on April 10, she got another lengthy standing ovation as screams of “Molly! Molly! Molly!” rang through the building.
