Heading into Tuesday night’s slate of WNBA games, New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark were tied in the WNBA rankings for made three-point shots per game (2.8).

But with her stellar performance against the Connecticut Sun, Ionescu put some separation between herself and the Fever’s No. 1 overall pick.

Ionescu led all scorers at halftime with 17 points — knocking down 4-6 three-point attempts through the first two quarters. This outstanding first-half display put her above her season average with the entire second half left to play.

After tonight’s game against the Sun, Ionescu will jump Clark into solo fourth place for made three pointers per game. The WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick went 2-11 from behind the three-point arc during the Fever’s most recent win over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) rushes up the court Friday, July 12, 2024, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Clark has a chance to respond with a three-point barrage of her own when the Fever face off against the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night.

That matchup against the Wings will be Indiana’s final game before the WNBA’s month-long midseason break.
