The 2024 WNBA All-Star weekend has been absolutely fantastic thus far, being one of the most entertaining women’s sports events in recent history. Not only have all of the stars been popping out in fantastic outfits and giving fantastic interviews, the fun on the court began Friday night with the WNBA Skills Challenges, and some incredible history was made.

Atlanta Dream star Allisha Gray managed to not win one of the challenges, but both as she became the first player ever to do so. That said, fan’s are even more surprised by her earnings than they are the victories of the challenges as they are more than double what her starting salary was as a rookie in the WNBA.

In her rookie season in 2017, she made just over 51,000 after being selected by the Dallas Wings with the No. 4 overall pick.

These contest wins are amazing for Gray, but it is truly a ridiculous stat. Thankfully, we will likely see a huge jump in not just rookie pay, but salaries in the WNBA in general. There is a much larger audience than ever before, much thanks to the incredible rookie class. It’ll be incredibly exciting to continue to watch the league grow.
